Dr. John C. Pinheiro (Ph.D., University of Tennessee, 2001) is an historian of the antebellum United States. He co-edited volume 12 of the Presidential Series of the Papers of George Washington, which he along with his co-editor presented to President Bush in an Oval Office ceremony in April 2005, only the third time since 1950 that a president has thus honored an individual documentary volume. His publications include articles on George Washington and on the early American republic. Dr. Pinheiro has also written for the History News Service and appeared on National Public Radio and CSPAN.
